About DISO Design & Build

Built on Grit, Vision, and Uncompromising Standards.

The Dream, The Foundation, & The "Azteca" School

My dream was always to be an architect. But when a traditional college path wasn't an option due to financial hurdles and my legal status at the time, I refused to let that dream die. I quickly learned that while formal schooling is important, nothing is more powerful than a raw hunger to learn. Driven by a passion for design, I spent countless hours teaching myself AutoCAD and structural engineering software, preparing for the day I could build my own architectural visions.

Instead of sitting in a classroom, I learned how buildings actually come together in the real world.

In 2002, I started my journey in heavy framing construction. More importantly, that was the year I met my wife. Her maiden name is Soto, making up the proud second half of our company name: DISO (Diaz & Soto). In those early days, we traveled across different states chasing framing jobs to survive. Through all the extreme ups and downs of this unpredictable industry, she never left my side.

As we planted our roots in Colorado, that early framing hustle scaled into Azteca, our massive multi-family apartment construction company operating across Colorado and Arizona. For many years, Azteca has been our ultimate construction school. That hands-on, heavy commercial background taught me the exact science of structural integrity, while simultaneously showing us that what we truly enjoy most is the deeply personal, transformative art of high-end house renovations.

The Evolution of Design & Build

Our first true residential "design and build" test happened in Colorado. My wife found a unique challenge: a modular office trailer. We bought it, gutted it, and put my structural background and her design vision to the ultimate test. We built a two-bedroom addition, constructed a massive front porch, and laid beautiful stamped concrete landscaping complete with a firepit and outdoor kitchen.

Today, that property is our personal retreat when we visit our 120-acre ranch in Colorado. We have massive dreams to build on that land later in life, but before that happens, we know we have to keep our heads down and keep working hard to fund our family's future. It is that exact drive and work ethic that we bring to every single client's project.

The Houston Ultimate Test & The Birth of DISO

In 2024, we set our sights on Texas, closing on a Houston home. We had a highly specific, luxury architectural vision for the finishes, but we couldn't find a single local contractor whose standards matched our own. So, we did it ourselves—and we managed the entire build from Colorado.

Running a massive, top-to-bottom renovation from another state is a logistical nightmare most wouldn't dare attempt. But we had a major advantage: our deep, trusted network of local Houston trade partners, friends, and family. My wife was the mastermind behind the interior design, envisioning the entire space, designing a flawless custom kitchen, and hand-selecting every detail. With our Houston team executing our exact vision on the ground, we completed the entire high-end renovation in under two months.

When we later put that house on the market, the response was immediate. Our first day was booked with showings, the first family submitted an offer, and we were under contract in just 17 days.

That massive success proved one thing: there is a desperate need for our level of commercial rigor in the luxury residential space. Combining our deep love for house renovations with everything we learned through our years at Azteca, we finally founded DISO Design & Build in April 2026.

The DISO Difference: Commercial Rigor & A True Family of Trades

Because we did not start in standard residential remodeling, our roots are deeply embedded in heavy commercial structural framing. For years, we executed complex, large-scale builds where precision was not just expected—it was legally required. We bring that exact same commercial rigor into the high-end residential market.

Most residential contractors act as middlemen, guessing at structural integrity and relying on a rotating door of unpredictable subcontractors. At DISO Design & Build, we operate entirely differently. We utilize our deeply trusted "family of trades." We operate on a simple philosophy: good friendship equals good quality work.

In the construction industry, hundreds of workers come and go. But back in 2011, we hired a man who would become the absolute backbone of our field operations. Everyone in our construction world knows him as Pancho (or "Easy Money"). He is the definition of loyalty. He stood by us when times were tough, taking pay cuts and hits right alongside us to survive doing what we love.

Everyone in our construction world knows him as Pancho (or "Easy Money"). He is the definition of loyalty. Today, Pancho directs the front lines for DISO in Colorado Springs. He is family, and he is trusted by us with absolutely no questions asked. When Pancho is running your job site alongside the plumbers, electricians, and drywallers we've worked with for years, you are getting the exact same uncompromising standard as if I were standing there myself.

From the engineers re-configuring your home’s load-bearing footprint to the artisans installing your custom cabinetry, every hand on your project is vetted, trusted, and held to an uncompromising standard of excellence.

Whether we are executing a flawless custom kitchen, completely finishing a mountain basement, or building a multi-story addition from the ground up, we build it right, we build it safe, and we build it strictly on time.

Every DISO project begins with a comprehensive, on-site consultation to assess your structural footprint and discuss your exact design vision. No guesswork, no hidden surprises.
